Due to its location on an isthmus separating two ports, it became the main port city of Eastern Lycia and an important trading center between Greece, Asia, Egypt and Phenicia, although it was not part of the Lycian League. After this, we will visit Chimera, a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature from Lycia in Asia Minor composed of the parts of more than one animal. It is usually depicted as a lion. It was one of the descendants of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of monsters like Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. Chimera is originally a meta gas well and a pagan temple was built on it, which was then converted into a church.
Your tour starts with hotel pickup in the early morning, followed by a drive to the Kemer region, where Beydaglari Coastal National Park (Beydağları Olimpos Sahil Milli Parkı) is located. The area was an important center for ancient Lycian civilization, and the ancient cities of Olympos and Phaselis sit just 10 miles (15 kilometers) apart. Your private guide takes you through the ruins of Phaselis, which was founded about 2,700 years ago, and was known for its production of rosewater and perfumes. Explore deserted streets that once led to busy harbors and see the towering city gate, old marketplace and theater, and Roman baths. Once you finis visiting in Phaselis, you will have your lunch on the tables in the river in Ulupinar region with the sounds of birds. Continue to Olympos to visit the ruins of a temple to Hephaestus, the ancient god of fire. Have time to relax at the beach then eat a meal before driving to Yanartas. There, take ahike up a rock staircase to reach the site where fire bursts from vents in the earth. Watch the flames flicker against the night sky — a spectacular sight — and hear why Yanartas is rumored to be the inspiration for the mythical fire-breathing Chimera monster in Homer's Iliad. After spending time at Yanartas, return by car to your hotel. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off in the late evening.
